How to use honey

The most common way to use honey is to take it deep. This method is recommended when there is a need to use nutritional and dietary qualities of honey, enzymes, minerals, organic acids, vitamins, etc.

Honey should be consumed on a teaspoon, as much as possible in the mouth. It is better to consume it with tea, milk, juices, broths and infusions of medicinal plants. A dose of 100 g divided into several receptions is considered normal, and for children – no more than 30-50 g.

With this method of consumption, honey is absorbed by the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat and thus exacts its antimicrobial action. And if honey is not delayed in the company, it is inactive antimicrobial, which is proved by a bacteriological study. Art. Mladenov (1963) believes that the best for eating with a delay in the company is candied honey. With the disease of the intestinal canal (colitis, enterit), he recommends using a hypertonic honey solution (a thick solution in water at room temperature).

To neutralize the gastrointestinal juice, which in turn neutralizes the antimicrobial effect of honey, it is recommended to first use half a teaspoon of baking soda.

Some people believe that the use of honey in its natural form is harmful to the mucous membrane of the stomach, since honey contains formic acid. However, studies have shown that this acid is formed only in spoiled honey.

From the outside, honey is used for skin diseases in the form of lubrication, compresses, local baths (20-40% solution of honey) and ointments. This method uses honey for infected, cut, gunshot, purulent wounds, bruises, atrophic ulcers, dermatitis, chronic and acute rhinitis (runny nose), sinusitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, gynecological diseases.

For local applications in the nose the desired pure honey, it is better crystallized. You can add to it anesthesin or other substances that reduce the

irritating effect of honey on the mucous membrane.

Local vaginal application (every day for one procedure) is made candied flower honey.

Honey compresses are made in the usual way with skin inflammation and wounds.

A solution of honey can gargle, mouth cavity, gum.

For eyes use honey ointment or drops of 20-80% solution of flower honey honey on distilled water (with conjunctivitis, keratitis, conjunctivitis ulcers).

You can enter honey into the rectum with an enema or candles.

Inhalation with honey by means of aerosol devices is usually used in the conditions of polyclinics, hospitals. Upon inhalation of the sprayed mass, the medicinal substances of honey are absorbed by the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract and recover the therapeutic effect.

It is possible to carry out steam inhalations at home. True, the therapeutic effect of them is weaker.

Aerosol and steam inhalations treat chronic and acute rhinitis, sinusitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, bronchial asthma (if there are no contraindications). It should be remembered, however, that honey is primarily a valuable food product. Its biological properties are a consequence of this quality. It does not have a so-called specific (severely directed to the pathogen and disease process) action on the body, and given its unique chemical composition is a fortifying agent.
