Honey in the treatment of liver and gallbladder
The liver is rightly called the central chemical laboratory of the body, as it actively participates in vital processes: in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, hormones, etc. Enzymes are formed in the liver, carotene is transformed into vitamin A, and with the participation of vitamin K Prothrombin is formed, a substance that promotes blood clotting. Many hormones produced by glands of internal secretion acquire new properties in the liver.
The beneficial effect of honey is due to its chemical composition, in particular, high glucose content. Glucose not only nourishes tissue cells, but also increases glycogen stores in the liver and improves tissue metabolism processes. The liver is a filter that detoxifies bacterial and chemical poisons. Glycogen increases this function of the liver, which contributes to increasing the body’s resistance to infections.
With certain diseases of the liver and biliary tract, honey is used successfully in combination with lemon juice and olive oil. After taking this composition, it is recommended to lie down on the right side for 25-30 minutes, so that honey and butter quickly enter the intestine. For patients and healthy people, honey in combination with cottage cheese, porridges (oats, buckwheat, barley, etc.) is useful, apples, etc.
At present, with diseases of the liver and biliary tract, honey is already used in the clinic of internal diseases.
Interest is the message of the Romanian doctor Dan Walter Stamboliou. Over the past three years, he observed 4,169 patients with various liver diseases, mainly with epidemic and chronic hepatitis (inflammation of the liver), and studied the effects of honey, flower pollen and royal jelly on these patients. All sweet substances on the menu were replaced with honey.
It was recommended that the recovered people should have honey (about 50 grams) and a small spoon (as for mustard) of royal jelly every morning at breakfast, and in the afternoon meals take a mixture of one spoon of honey with flower pollen. Stamboliu, on the basis of his clinical observations, believes that honey, especially in combination with royal jelly and pollen, is very effective in various liver diseases.
