Other types of bees

Science came to a firm conviction that in the course of the history of the Earth, highly organized animals developed from more low-order forms. Even in a short period of time equal to human life, this process of further species change can be observed to a small extent.

If the modern animal world is something gradually improving, then is it any wonder that the bee “state” had to break down from simpler forms. Nobody knows how it happened and how the ancestors of our bees looked. They no longer exist, and we do not know them.

But among the present relatives of the honey bee, we are known as solitary living species – some of them possess the beginnings of social instincts – and the forms that form colonies with varying degrees of development of social organization. These intermediate steps, of course, can not be considered offspring of the ancient insects of the evolutionary ladder that our bees passed. We should consider them as lateral branches, which in their development have gone far enough. However, they allow us to guess how such a development could have proceeded.
