How to feed bees

The beekeeper has to prepare a sugar syrup of two concentrations: thick (for top dressing with a shortage of honey) and liquid (for stimulating fertilizing). To prepare a thick syrup (for 1 liter of water 2 kg of sugar), the water should be heated. In cold water, this amount of sugar can not be dissolved. To prepare a thick syrup pour in the boiler the right amount of water and heat it to a boil. In boiling water, pour out a measured amount of sugar and mix thoroughly until it dissolves completely. Repeatedly, after dissolving the sugar, the syrup should not be brought to a boil, since boiling predisposes to the crystallization of sugar. Once the sugar has dissolved completely, the pot is removed from the fire, and when the syrup has cooled to 35 њ C, milk or acetic acid is added (depending on the purpose of the feeding) and distributed to the bees.

Liquid sugar syrup (for 1 liter of water 1 kg of sugar) can be prepared without heating the water. In the morning on a sunny place put a tank from the honey extractor or milk flasks, which pour the right amount of water and pour out a measured amount of sugar. During the day the mixture is mixed well several times. By evening all the sugar will dissolve and the syrup will have a sufficient temperature for distribution to the bees.
